About Us

Quality craftsmanship with integrity, since 1980.

What We’ve Built Goes Beyond Metal

Berry’s Welding has been part of Fort Wayne since 1980.

What began as a small welding operation has grown into a shop where decades of hands-on
knowledge meet modern fabrication technology– and where customers can still walk through the door with something unusual and talk to someone who knows how to help.

Today, owner Boyd Berry carries the business forward with a straightforward philosophy: do
quality work, give people an honest answer, and take care of the community that puts its
trust in you.

It Started with Fred.

Frederick Arthur Berry founded Berry’s Welding from his garage in 1980. As the work grew, the
shop moved to Keystone in 1982 and to its current Fort Wayne location in 1985.

Fred built the business through hard work, practical knowledge, and a willingness to take on
projects that didn’t always have an obvious place to go.

He used to ask, “Where will these people go?”

That simple question captured something important about the shop he created: there should
always be a place willing to take a look.

Building on What Came Before.

Boyd grew up around the shop and knew by 16 that he wanted Berry’s someday. In 2012, he
assumed ownership, and began building its next chapter.

Under his leadership, Berry’s Welding pairs decades of hands-on metalworking experience with
new technology and expanded capabilities. High-definition plasma cutting and laser welding
now work alongside traditional welding, heating, bending, forming, and fabrication. Modernization isn’t about replacing craftsmanship with machinery. It’s about giving experienced people better tools.

This experience also shapes how Berry’s Welding approaches a job; knowing when there’s a
better way to build something, and being transparent with customers.

Taking Care of People is Part of the Job.

For Boyd, responsibility extends beyond the workbench.

Berry’s Welding proudly supports veterans and first responders, contributes to community
projects and fundraisers, helps vocational students gain real-world experience with mentorship, and creates memorial pieces to honor community members.

Boyd’s philosophy is simple:

“Any chance I get to help somebody, I will.”

Work Changes, But Our Commitment Doesn’t.

Berry’s isn’t the same shop it was in 1980, but the craftsmanship and willingness to tackle unusual problems remains. While our capabilities continue to expand, with new technology, the shop continues to find new ways to serve our customers and community.

More than four decades in business can tell you something about a company– the people who trust Berry’s with their work can tell you even more.
